Many seats have now been announced across Great Britain following local and devolved elections in England, Scotland and Wales.

Counting in Scotland and Wales has come to an end, with the SNP in Scotland and Labour in Wales both missing out on a majority by just one seat.

In England results are still filtering in with the Tories triumphing in the Hartlepool by-election, meanwhile Labour’s Sadiq Khan has been re-elected as London mayor.

England results so far

In England, counting is underway for a third day in the council elections.

The Conservatives have so far made considerable gains over Labour, adding 12 councils and an extra 239 councillors to their overall tally by the end of Saturday.

They also won the high profile Hartlepool by-election by a significant amount over Labour – nearly 7,000 votes to be precise – and a Tory MP was elected for the first time in the constituency’s history.

It wasn’t all bad news for Labour, Sadiq Khan was re-elected as London mayor with 55.2 percent of the vote, they also won mayoral elections in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, and West of England.

So far, 140 of 143 councils have been declared.

Meanwhile, 12 out of 13 mayoral election results have been declared.

Thirty-five police and crime commissioners are also set to be elected in England, with 21 areas declared so far.

Labour Councils: 44 (-8) Councillors: 1,345 (-326)

Lib Dems Councils: 7 (+1) Councillors: 586 (+7)

Green Councils: 0 Councillors: 151 (+88)

Mebyon Kernow Councils: 0 Councillors: 5 (+1)

Reform UK Councils: 0 Councillors 2 (+2)

Liberal Party Councils: 0 Councillors 1 (-1)

Independents Councils: 0 Councillors: 248 (+35)

Residents’ Association Councils: 0 Councillors: 43 (+6)

Others Councils: 0 Councillors: 3 (-)

No overall control 29 (-6)

Scottish Parliament election results

The SNP has been denied an overall majority by just one seat, following the allocation of regional seats on 8 May.

The party managed to win 64 of the 65 needed for a majority, however a pro-independence majority was achieved as the Scottish Greens were awarded eight regional seats.

The overall turnout across Scotland was the highest ever in a Scottish Parliament election, with tactical voting appearing to have taken place in some target seats in order to keep the SNP from winning a majority.

All 129 seats have been declared.

SNP: 64 (+1)

Conservative: 31 (-)

Labour: 22 (-2)

Greens: 8 (+2)

Liberal Democrats: 4 (-)

Senedd election results

All results have now been declared in Wales, with Labour missing out on a majority by one seat.

Labour has secured victory – winning one more seat than in 2016.

The Wales Green Party failed to win any seats, but leader Anthony Slaughter said the “results demonstrate the appetite for change” across Wales.
