Nigel Farage certainly knows how to capitalise on publicity, both negative and positive, and has revealed that he has launched a new website, AccountClosed.org. On the ‘About Us’ section on the site, it says that it is 'a passionate and dedicated campaign group committed to advocating the consumer rights of individuals and small-medium businesses who have faced unjust treatment from banks and financial services companies, particularly when their accounts have been abruptly closed and essential services withdrawn.’

The former UKIP leader Nigel Farage’s decision to launch his new website comes after Dame Alison Rose, chief executive of NatWest Group was forced to stand down after she admitted that she had revealed details about the closure of his accounts to a BBC journalist. Sir Howard Davies, the NatWest Group chairman said in a statement that “The board and Alison Rose have agreed, by mutual consent, that she will step down as CEO of the NatWest Group. It is a sad moment.”

After the resignation of Alison Rose Peter Favel, the Chief Executive of Coutts also stepped down. At present, Sir Howard Davies remains in his post.

Nigel Farage announced his decision to launch his website on Twitter. “I have been listening here from 4’o clock every morning just listening to peoples’ tales of pain, woe, misery, anguish and in many cases despair followed by destruction. People’s personal accounts, peoples’ business accounts closed for a whole host of reasons,”
