While all eyes are on the Conservative party after Boris Johnson formally resigned as an MP earlier in the week and a damning Partygate scandal report condemned the former PM’s actions during Covid-19, the Labour party has lost one of its former party members.
Glenda Jackson, who was one of the few artists to achieve a Triple Crown of Acting having picked up two Academy Awards for Women in Love (1970) and A Touch of Class (1973), a Tony and an Emmy in her lifetime, passed away at the age of 87 in her home in Blackheath, south-east London.

Hide AdNews of the actress and former MP’s death was revealed by her agent Lionel Larner who said: “Glenda Jackson, two-time Academy Award-winning actress and politician, died peacefully at her home in Blackheath, London this morning after a brief illness with her family at her side.”
Glenda’s death comes just after she wrapped filming dramatic movie ‘The Great Escaper’ with Michael Cane, which is currently in post-production according to IMDB.
The movie marked Glenda’s third production back in the industry after she took a hiatus between 1992 to 2015 where she focused on politics and was elected as a Labour MP for Hampstead and Highgate before it became Hampstead and Kilburn due to constituency boundary changes.
The late 87-year-old also served as a junior transport minister under Tony Blair but then became critical of the prime minister. She stepped away from politics in 2015.
Glenda is succeeded by her son Daniel Hodges, who writes a weekly column for The Mail on Sunday, and her ex-husband Roy Hodges.
