The once prosperous real estate portfolio of Boris and Carrie Johnson doesn’t seem quite as formidable as it once was

The fallout from the Partygate report continues today, as Boris Johnson continues to split the Conservative Party ahead of Monday’s vote on whether the results of the enquiry will be approved by Tory members or not. Currently, there is a growing number of voices stating that they will not vote in favour of the report, including one Nadine Dorries who has stated that anyone in favour of the report should be kicked out of the Conservative Party.

It’s a delicate situation for Rishi Sunak and a number of other Tory MP’s who understand that the former Prime Minister has a lot of vocal support within the party, and if they don’t feel comfortable with voting in favour of the report, then will look to abstain to avoid any retaliation or “rocking the boat.”

For his part, Johnson continues to maintain his outrage over the findings of the report, calling the entire proceedings a “kangaroo court” and in particular showing particular animosity towards the chair of the Partygate inquiry, Harriet Harman. Supporters of Johnson feel she lacked impartiality when she took over chairing the committee responsible for the report from former MP Chris Bryant, after previous tweets critical of both Johnson and Sunak’s attendance at some of the 16 separate gatherings that took place during the nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns.

In the view of one Johnson supporter, Jacob Rees-Mogg, during an interview with Beth Rigby on Sky News, the right thing to do was to follow in Bryant’s footsteps and recuse herself from the role given Bryant’s previous criticisms of Johnson during the Partygate scandal. That is set to be the main bone of contention it seems going forwards, in the lead up to the Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election, Johnson’s old constituency, on July 20 2023.

So while the civil war within the Conservative Party continues over the weekend, with a flashpoint potentially set to take place on Monday in Parliament regarding the vote, where is the former Prime Minister potentially hunkering down amid the political storm he is in the centre of?

Brightwell Manor is said to be one of the few remaining properties that Boris Johnson owns, after the sale of his former family home in London, and the leasing out of a farm house both himself and Carrie Johnson previously owned.

From all the photographs that have been taken of Boris Johnson undertaking his daily jog around the Oxfordshire area, it would appear that Brightwell Manor seems to be the top contender for where he is hunkering down as the Tory in-fighting continues. A fitting location, given that the purchase of the Manor itself was one embroiled in controversy - it is thought this was the property that former BBC Chairman Richard Sharp helped Boris get a loan for, leading to the BBC chief to resign from his position.

Then again, Boris and Carrie Johnson might see fit to request the occupants currently holding the letting at Old Farm House in Oxfordshire to move out to give the beleaguered former Prime Minister a different option to reside in.

The Grade II-listed Old Farm House, which is set at the end of a single-track lane in North Weston, is only a few minutes’ drive from Thame, in Oxfordshire. The farmhouse spans 2,659sq ft across two floors, with a vast sitting room, kitchen and breakfast room, dining room and family room on the ground floor and four double bedrooms upstairs, plus a magnificent, separate garden room. The rooms are unfurnished but have plenty of delightful details, such as fine fireplaces and exposed beams.

Camberwell Town House, London (or maybe not)

One property however that could have been used for Boris Johnson and Carrie Johnson was their Camberwell Town House in South London, which was put on the market late in 2022. However, the property looks to have finally sold after carefully browning through a variety of estate agent websites… and looks to have netted the Johnson's just under the £1.6 million pound asking price the property was put up for.

It could have been the perfect “safe house” once again for Boris Johnson; who bought the property once he started a relationship with Carrie in 2019 for a then £1.3 million pounds. After becoming Prime Minister, the couple put the house on the market after moving into Number 10 - and leading to “that” redecorating controversy.
