Rishi Sunak: Famous figures who you might not think are taller than the UK’s new prime minister

Rishi Sunak has been the UK’s 57th prime minister for three days and has already made hints at how he plans to govern in line with the rising inflation.

Many have said the work Rishi Sunak will have to complete to steady the UK’s economic crises is a tall task, but that's not the only big talking point around the PM

Branded the ‘short king’ on Twitter, Rishi Sunak’s height has been a major point of discussion since he was first thrown into the public eye in February 2020 under Boris Johnson, serving as finance minister or chancellor.

Sunak stands at 170cm or 5 foot 7 which according to the Office of National Statistics, makes him 5cm shorter than the average man in the UK with a height of 5 ft 9.

To put it into perspective, PeopleWorld have put together a list of people who you might not expect to be taller than the new occupant of No.10 Downing Street.

Boris Johnson = 5,9

Many would be shocked to find out that Rishi Sunak’s former colleague and short-time competitor for the position of Prime Minister is actually taller than him.

Boris Johnson stands at five foot nine and in 2021, a senior MP told the MailOnline that Johnson deliberately hired tall ministers to play on Sunak’s “insecurity” about his height.

Adele = 5,9

While Adele may ‘Drink Wine on Wednesdays’, Rishi Sunak will be answering Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons.

This is not the only thing that separates them as Adele is taller than the first Hindu PM by two inches, therefore cementing the singer as topping the charts.

Tom Holland= 5,8

Although five foot eight Tom Holland looks short compared to his girlfriend Zendaya who is five foot ten, the Spiderman actor has an extra bit of height when it comes to Rishi Sunak.

They have not met but if you put Tom and Rishi side by side, there would be the slightest difference.

Kate Middleton = 5,9

Rishi Sunak was sworn into Number 10 Downing Street by King Charles III on Tuesday, with pictures showing the two men of similar height.

In terms of the rest of the Royal family, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is two inches taller than the new head of government.

Kanye West = 5,8

For a big personality and some within a big voice, you would not expect Kanye West, or Ye, to only be an inch taller than Rishi Sunak.

The American rapper has just been dropped by Adidas and Gap, but would be keen to increase the gap in height between the new PM and himself.

Julia Roberts = 5,10

Academy Award winner Julia Roberts is closer to being six foot than to Rishi Sunak’s height of five foot seven.

So not only is she a Pretty Woman, but she is tall too.

Jackie Chan = 5,9

Known for his acrobatic fighting style and appearances in Kung Fu movies, some fans believed Jackie Chan to be quite short in stature.

However, Chan is the man when it comes to Rishi Sunak as the Hong Kong actor takes the top trump.

Cher = 5,9

Just like Sonny and Cher’s 1966 hit ‘Little Man’, Rishi is shorter than Cher by two inches.

Mark Ruffalo = 5,8

Mark Ruffalo is five foot eight in comparison to his famous Marvel character the Hulk who grows to be between seven and eight feet tall.

Unfortunately for the pair, they stand one inch difference in height with Mark being the slightly taller of the two.
