Despite being locked in an ongoing lawsuit against the Magic Kingdom, Ron DeSantis is set to enter another battle against Donald Trump as the mayor of Florida announces his 2024 presidential bid.

Mr DeSantis, who has been hitting headlines the past year for his controversial ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill and subsequent ‘Man versus Mouse’ debacle, is joining Elon Musk on Wednesday evening for a live event where he will finally confirm his place as a Republican candidate.

It comes after he told supporters in Iowa that it is time to move on from Trump saying: "We must reject the culture of losing that has impacted our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over."

Mr DeSantis will no doubt elaborate his plans to try to beat his GOP competitor Donald Trump and current President and favourite for 2024 Joe Biden, when talking to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, but who is the man responsible for keeping the Twitter Space event that houses two controversial figures running smoothly and efficiently?

While he has put his money into hugely successful companies, David is also the founder and CEO of Yammer, a co-founder of capital fund Craft Ventures and COO and product leader at Paypal therefore credit where credit is due.

Although David was born in South Africa, like his good friend Elon Musk, the 50-year-old migrated to Texas and studied at Stanford University before living in multi-million dollar homes across the States including mansions in San Francisco and Memphis with his family.

In July 2007, David married Jacqueline Tortorice and the couple now share two daughters and a son.

Wednesday’s announcement of DeSantis’ presidential bid is not the first time David has supported political campaigns as he has previously made sizable donations to the GOP’s candidates since the 1990s.
