Who is Sir Adrian Montague?

Sir Adrian Montague will bring a lot of knowledge to the role as chairman of Thames Water as the British businessman and solicitor has formally acted as chairman of FTSE 100 insurance company Aviva from April 2015 until 2020.

The 75-year-old has also served as a chief executive of the Treasury’s Private Finance Initiative Taskforce, which helped the use of private companies in the provision of public services, and was called in to help British Energy over a decade ago when they ran into financial trouble.

In Sir Adrian Montague’s personal life, the man who is worth a reported £2 billion, has married three times and has welcomed four children including two sons and two daughters.

Three of his children, a son and the daughters, were born to Montague’s first wife Pamela Evans who were married between 1970 and 1982. Montague then tied the knot with Penelope Webb in 1986 and stayed married until 2009, welcoming another son. Six years later, Montague wed Innes Daubeney.
