M5 traffic: Motorway closure in Somerset causes 'long delays' due to 'police-led' incident

National Highways said there are currently ‘long delays’ between Junction 24 (Huntworth) and Junction 23 near Bridgwater due to the incident that took place on Thursday afternoon (July 4).

Avon and Somerset Police are currently at the scene. Traffic officers are also in attendance assisting with traffic management. The traffic service said: “Due to the nature of the incident, the closure is expected to be in place for some time.”

Diversion routes are currently in place.
