Declan Donnelly house ‘targeted by professional thieves’ as Saturday Night Takeaway star and family slept

TV star Declan Donnelly’s £5m home was targeted by a gang of “professional” thieves over the Easter weekend, according to reports.

Dec, his wife Ali and young daughter Isla were asleep upstairs while the burglars attempted to break-in to their west London property, The Sun reports.

Met Police rushed to the scene shortly before 1am with the thieves fleeing moments before they arrived.

The gang reportedly did not manage to enter the property and sped away from the area in a car.

‘Dec and family unaware of break-in’

The Saturday Night Takeaway star and his family were reportedly unaware of the attempted break-in.

A source told the newspaper: “Dec and Ali weren’t disturbed. The first they realised anything was amiss was in the morning.”

The gang apparently fled after failing to open the iron gates in front of the seven-bedroom property.

What the police have said

A Met Police statement said: “Police were called at approximately 00:40hrs to reports of an attempted burglary at a residential property.

“Officers attended. The suspects had left the scene prior to police arrival. There was no evidence that they had gained access to the property.

“Inquiries are ongoing. At this early stage, there have been no arrests.”
