

Boxing Day shopping: 16 major retail chains and supermarkets that won’t be open on Boxing Day
To reward their hard-working staff, some of the UK’s biggest retailers will be staying closed on Boxing Day.
This last year has been another challenging one and, in recognition of the hard work of their staff as the coronavirus pandemic continues, some retailers have decided they won’t open their shops on Boxing Day.
Some retailers won’t be opening any stores at all UK-wide, while others will still be opening stores in some locations.

1. Next
Next is launching its ‘Boxing Day sale’ a day later on Monday 27 December, with most shops opening doors from as early as 6am

2. Morrisons
Morrisons announced in August that it would close all of stores on Boxing Day to thank staff for their hard work during the pandemic

3. Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer will close its stores for the second year running on December 26 this year, although some of the BP stores will stay open for essentials

4. Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s will keep all of its supermarket, convenience stores and petrol filling stations shut on Boxing Day as a thank you to all of its workers
