Tracey Connelly was recalled to prison for breaching the strict conditions of her parole, a decision authorised by Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
Connelly, now in her 40s, was originally jailed in 2009 for her role in the death of her 17-month-old son, Peter, who became widely known as Baby P. Baby P's tragic death on August 3, 2007, shocked the nation and led to widespread criticism of social services and other agencies that failed to protect him.

Connelly, along with her boyfriend Steven Barker and his brother Jason Owen, was convicted of causing or allowing Peter's death. Connelly was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison but was released on licence in 2013. However, she was recalled to prison in 2015 for breaching her parole conditions.
After her release in July 2022, which came after the Parole Board deemed her suitable for release, Connelly was once again given strict conditions to follow. The Ministry of Justice has now confirmed that she breached these conditions, leading to her return to prison. A spokesperson for the Prison and Probation Service said, "Offenders released on licence are subject to strict conditions, and we do not hesitate to recall them to prison if they break the rules."
Connelly will need to appear before the Parole Board once again to determine whether she will be considered for re-release.
