McVitie’s biscuits: HGV spills shipment of Ginger Nuts and Bourbon Creams across carriageway
Drivers were left bemused after a HGV lorry spilled a full shipment of McVitie’s biscuits on a busy road.
Hundreds of packets of Ginger Nuts and Bourbon Creams were left strewn across the carriageway in Sandiacre, Derbyshire on Monday (4 April) afternoon.

Police officers from Erewash Response joked about the situation, saying that officers were “digesting” the issue
In a tweet they said: “Sandiacre - Ilkeston Road.
“Please bare with us this evening whilst we try and ‘digest’ this issue….
“A lorry load of McVities finest have decided to abandon ship causing a slight obstruction!
“Can anyone bring us a brew.”
Officers later confirmed that a recovery vehicle was sourced and the packets of biscuits were cleared from the road.

Derbyshire locals were having a field day with the incident, with some taking to social media to share their best pun-filled jokes.
One user said: “Drove past earlier with a cup of tea, got done for dunk driving.”
Another joked: “What a load of crumbs!! Guess that’s how the cookie crumbles.”
A user suggested that the lorry driver and officers may need “a stiff drink” after clearing it up, adding “a bourbon perhaps?”
