‘Can anyone bring us a brew?’
Police officers from Erewash Response joked about the situation, saying that officers were “digesting” the issue
In a tweet they said: “Sandiacre - Ilkeston Road.
“Please bare with us this evening whilst we try and ‘digest’ this issue….
“A lorry load of McVities finest have decided to abandon ship causing a slight obstruction!
“Can anyone bring us a brew.”
Officers later confirmed that a recovery vehicle was sourced and the packets of biscuits were cleared from the road.
‘Got done for dunk driving’
Derbyshire locals were having a field day with the incident, with some taking to social media to share their best pun-filled jokes.
One user said: “Drove past earlier with a cup of tea, got done for dunk driving.”
Another joked: “What a load of crumbs!! Guess that’s how the cookie crumbles.”
A user suggested that the lorry driver and officers may need “a stiff drink” after clearing it up, adding “a bourbon perhaps?”
