The weather in the UK will continue to be unsettled this week, with heavy rain and thunderstorms set to hit some parts.
Showers will mostly affect northern parts on Monday (5 July), with Scotland to get the worst of the downpours, while some lighter rain is expected in the south.

Where are there flood alerts in place?
In England, six flood alerts are currently in place in the following locations:
- Bottle Brook in Derbyshire
- Loughborough Urban Watercourses
- Lower River Soar in Leicestershire
- River Leen and Day Brook in Nottinghamshire
- River Maun in Nottinghamshire
- River Trent Tributaries in Nottinghamshire
In Scotland, there are 14 flood alerts currently in place in the following locations:
- Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City
- Argyll and Bute
- Ayrshire and Arran
- Central
- Dumfries and Galloway
- Easter Ross and Great Glen
- Edinburgh and Lothians
- Fife
- Findhorn Nairn Moray and Speyside
- Scottish Borders
- Skye and Lochaber
- Tayside
- West Central Scotland
- Wester Ross
What is the UK weather forecast this week?
The Met Office is forecasting rain and showers in nothern parts of the UK on Monday (5 July), particularly in Scotland where heavy downpours are possible this afternoon. In the south, some lighter showers are expected but these will be more isolated than in recent days, with some sunshine in between.

Hide AdShowers will mostly have dried out by this evening, although some may persist across Scotland with the heavy rain moving northwards across much of England and Wales overnight.
Heading into Tuesday, rain and showers will still be affecting northern parts, with downpours heaviest and most frequent in the northwest. Although the rain will be interspersed with some sunny spells for most.
From Wednesday onwards, the showers will be fairly widespread and heavy with a risk of thunder, but conditions will settle and become more isolated throughout Thursday and Friday, with temperatures becoming a little warmer.
