FedEx shooting: 8 people dead in attack at facility in Indianapolis
Police in Indianapolis have said that eight people have been shot and killed in a late night shooting at a FedEx facility, with others sustaining injuries.
The gunman, who is said to have been acting alone, is reported to have killed himself, with authorities stating that there is no further threat to public safety.

Hide Ad‘An active shooting incident’
The shooting was reported at the FedEx facility shortly after 11pm, and that there was an active shooter when police arrived.
City Police spokeswoman Genae Cook said: “As officers arrived, they came into contact with an active shooting incident.
“We have located eight people with gunshot wounds who were pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Cook said that several other individuals have been taken to the hospital with injuries. She added that it is too early to tell if the shooter was an employee of the facility, and that an active investigation is underway.

Two employees inside the facility at the time told CNN affiliate WISH-TV that they heard as many as 10 gunshots.
Jeremiah Miller and Timothy Boillat said that they thought the noise was from a car, but after hearing more shots, Miller stood up and saw a man with a weapon.
Miller said: “I saw a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open.”
Police have instructed the family members of those who work at the facility who haven’t been able to get in touch with them to go to a nearby Holiday Inn.

A statement from FedEx says that the company is aware of the shooting and that it is cooperating with the authorities.
It said: “We are aware of the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis airport.
Safety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected.”
According to the Gun Violence Archive, this is the fourth mass shooting to occur in Indianapolis this year.
