Travel firm behind Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages collapses into liquidation after more than 20 years

A specialist UK travel company has been placed into liquidation, raising concerns for customers’ pilgrimage plans
A UK travel firm specialising in pilgrim packages to sacred destinations around the world has been placed into liquidation, potentially throwing customers’ travel plans into chaos.
Yourtravelshop.com helped worshippers make once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimages to some of the world's holiest sites during more than 20 years in business.
However, visitors to parts of its website are now being met by error messages.
The company, based in Ilford, east London, built its reputation by helping pilgrims travel to Hajj, Umrah and Ziyarat, with package holidays ranging from budget breaks to premium month-long experiences.
It described its mission as helping to "elevate minds, shape hearts, and leave imprints that last a lifetime, with spiritual devotion".
The business also reassured customers that every booking was a "journey of faith, planned with clarity, carried with care".
Among the package deals on its website is a two-week Ramadan Umrah trip priced from around £1,200, while full-month trips started from £1,875.
Signature edition packages were also available from £3,400.
The collapse comes during a difficult period for parts of the travel sector, with several travel businesses having shut their doors this year.
Yourtravelshop.com traces its roots back to 1995, when it was founded by the late Haji Bashir Bhaie Chokhawala alongside Haji Yusef Bhai Kherada of Al Khalid Tours in Mumbai, India.
It was originally created to arrange pilgrimages for family and friends, and evolved into Yourtravelshop.com Ltd in 2004.
Since then, it is said to have arranged thousands of sacred journeys for travellers.
According to a notice published in The Gazette joint liquidators from The Insolvency Practice Limited have now been appointed.
