Ajax third kit: Amsterdam team Ajax pair with Adidas to release Bob Marley inspired kit - where to buy

The kit will primarily be worn in Ajax’s European fixtures in tribute to the Ajax fans’ collective love for the Jamaican’s music, with the supporters known around the world for their rendition of Three Little Birds.
The kit was released today (Friday, August 20) and has quickly proved a hit amongst Ajax supporters, as well as football fans in the UK.
What does the kit look like?
Ajax’s new third kit is black with red, yellow and green details. The back of the jersey features three little birds sitting on Amsterdam’s Andreas crosses - a subtle reference to the Bob Marley tune.
The new kit range also includes Samba footwear, which also features the Ajax crest on the tongue of the shoe and the three little birds on Amsterdam’s Andreas crosses on the heel tab.
Why do Ajax fans sing Three Little Birds?
The start of Ajax’s love for Bob Marley and Three Little Birds began in a friendly match in Wales against Cardiff City back in August 2008.
After the game the travelling supporters were asked to remain in the stands and to entertain them, the stadium DJ played tracks including Three Little Birds.
The fanbase instantly embraced the song as their own and have been singing it ever since.
Following the release of the kit, Cedella Marley - Bob Marley’s daughter - said: “I am beyond touched that Ajax has taken Three Little Birds and made it their anthem. Stories like this warm my heart and show how impactful songs like Three Little Birds can be.”
