American Golf's luxury advent calendar combines two of my favourite things, with 24 golfing surprises worth more than £220. But is it worth the £129 price tag?
I love golf, I love luxury advent calendars, and now American Golf has brought two of my favourite indulgences together in one fabulous festive package.
The American Golf Luxury Christmas Advent Calendar costs £129 and promises 24 golfing gifts with a combined value of more than £220.
That's a potential saving of over £91, although, as with any luxury advent calendar, the real test is whether the contents are things you'd actually want to use.
And having looked at what's included, I think American Golf has come up with something a bit special.
What I love about the American Golf advent calendar
First of all, I love that this isn't just a collection of novelty golf gifts destined to gather dust in a drawer.
It’s a useful selection of accessories, alongside some premium golf balls that players will be delighted to find behind their December doors.
The line-up includes big names such as Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway and Srixon, with a Titleist Pro V1, Srixon Z-Star and Callaway Chrome Tour balls among the highlights.

Anyone who plays golf knows how quickly the cost of decent balls adds up, particularly when a few (or many, in my case!) inevitably disappear into the rough or water.
I also like the fact that there's a good mixture of practical essentials and little treats.
A golf towel, groove cleaner, ball markers and repair tools are all things that will earn their place in a golf bag, while the Stromberg socks and handwarmers are particularly welcome at this time of year. One of my favourite little touches is the cute smiley face golf ball stamp, which adds a bit of personality to your balls and makes them easier to identify on the course.
There's even a Golf Pride Zero Taper putter grip, worth £34.99, which feels like a substantial gift at the end of the countdown. Plus there's an extra gift waiting behind door 24. Alongside the grip, you'll find a £25 American Golf gift card and a £25 voucher towards a Golf Holidays Direct break.
The smart red, white and blue packaging looks suitably festive without being over the top. And unlike some luxury advent calendars, it's not ridiculously oversized, so you won't need to rearrange the furniture to find somewhere to put it.
But perhaps what appeals to me most is the opportunity to try products and brands I might not normally pick up.
That's always been one of my favourite things about beauty advent calendars, and I love that the same idea works just as well for golf.
What I don't like about the American Golf advent calendar
If I'm being picky, there are rather a lot of golf tees. Five of the 24 gifts feature tees, and while they're something every golfer needs, five offerings maybe one too many.
At £129, it's certainly not a stocking-filler purchase. Some golfers might prefer to spend that money on a particular piece of equipment they've had their eye on.

It's also worth remembering that American Golf reserves the right to substitute brands and products, so the exact contents aren't necessarily guaranteed.
My verdict: Is the American Golf advent calendar worth buying?
For me, this is a definite yes.
I've always loved the anticipation of opening an advent calendar, and the fact that this one is filled with things connected to a sport I play several times a week makes it even more appealing.
Yes, I'd happily sacrifice a few packets of tees for something more exciting, but there's enough variety here to make the countdown to Christmas enjoyable.
The £129 price tag isn't insignificant, but with an advertised contents value exceeding £220, there's a reasonable argument for treating yourself, particularly if you'll use most of what's inside.
It would also make a fabulous early Christmas present for the golfer in your life, although I'm very tempted to keep it for myself.
