Soap & Glory fans have plenty to look forward to behind the 24 doors of this affordable beauty advent calendar, including limited-edition Velvet Cherry treats. But there’s one aspect I think people will either really like or dislike.

I’m already a big Soap & Glory fan, so I had a pretty good idea that I was going to enjoy the Unwrap The Magic Within 24 Piece Advent Calendar before I had even opened the first door. I love the brand’s fun approach to beauty, its instantly recognisable packaging - particularly because it’s very pink. Plus, perhaps most importantly, I love its gorgeous range of scents. So the prospect of getting a little Soap & Glory treat every day in the run-up to Christmas was right up my street.

Thankfully, it lived up to expectations. In fact, I think this is one of the more appealing beauty advent calendars if you want plenty of variety without spending a fortune or ending up with a collection of products you’ll never use.

The Soap and Glory Unwrap The Magic Within 24 Piece Advent Calendar is also available to buy now via Boots, and is included in their introductory up to half off advent calendar deal too, so now is a great time to buy and get excited for the fesive season.

What I like about this Soap & Glory advent calendar

There are 24 surprises inside, ranging from skincare and body care to fragrance, bath products and even a glass nail file. That means there are new things to discover as you work your way through the calendar, rather than opening several doors to find essentially the same thing.

There are a couple of repeats in terms of product type, such as the Clean On Me Body Wash and Call of Fruity Body Wash, as well as multiple hand creams, but they have different scents and there is still plenty of variety overall.

The fragrance selection is a particular highlight for me. Original Pink has been a long-time favourite of mine, so seeing the Original Pink Fragrance Mist and Bath Fizzer included was always going to make me happy. But I have also fallen for the limited-edition Velvet Cherry scent, which might actually be my new favourite.

There is something quite exciting about getting two Velvet Cherry products, including the Body Wash and Body Butter, plus a 10ml rollerball fragrance. Because it is a limited edition, it makes those products feel even more special too and that seems fitting for an advent calendar which should be a treat.

I also really like the range of skincare treats. There are three different face masks, including the Bright & Beautiful Brightening Sheet Mask, The Fab Pore Pore-Refining Sheet Mask and Speed Plump Miracle Moisture Mask, alongside Puffy Eye Attack Under-Eye Brightening Hydrogel Patches and the Pout About It Hydrogel Lip Mask.

Then there are the familiar Soap & Glory staples, including The Righteous Butter Body Butter, The Scrub Of Your Life Body Polish, Face Soap & Clarity Face Wash, Hand Food Hand Cream and Heel Genius Foot Cream, but they staples for a reason and it’s always welcomed to have more.

It is actually a usable collection or products rather than a calendar designed simply to look impressive when you open it. Though the pink wreath design is very impressive.

Another thing I appreciate is that everything is a mini - but this is where I think beauty fans will be divided. It could understandably be viewed as a negative, but for me it works particularly well. I feel it means you get a realistic amount of each product to try without being overwhelmed by huge bottles and tubs.

That is especially useful with an advent calendar because even if you discover something isn't quite for you, you're not left with a full-sized product taking up space in the bathroom. Equally, if you discover a new favourite, you can then invest in the full size.

The price makes the mini sizes are factored in to the price too, bringing it to £48 (or £43.50 as part of the aforementioned Boots offer at the time of writing). This is far more reasonable than many other beauty calendars on the market which cost well over £100.

What I don't like about this Soap & Glory advent calendar

There isn't really anything I dislike about the calendar itself. The only slight reservation may be the mini sizing, but I think whether that's a positive or negative comes down to what you're looking for.

If you prefer full-sized products, this obviously isn't the calendar for you. But personally, I think the smaller sizes make the collection more manageable and help keep the price at a much more accessible level.

The only other slight disappointment is that when you find a product or scent you absolutely love, you don't get very much of it. I'm already wishing I had more of the Velvet Cherry products.

My Verdict

The Soap & Glory Unwrap The Magic Within 24 Piece Advent Calendar is exactly the kind of beauty advent calendar I enjoy. It is fun, colourful and packed with products that I will actually use, while the variety means there is something different to look forward to behind almost every door.

For me, the scents are one of the biggest selling points. I already knew I loved Original Pink, but Velvet Cherry has been a brilliant surprise and I can see why its inclusion makes this year's calendar feel particularly special.

At £48, or £43.50 with the Boots introductory advent calendar offer, I also think this is a particularly good option for anyone who wants to enjoy a daily beauty treat without spending the sort of money attached to some of the more expensive calendars.
