When I saw the photographs of King Charles on a walk during his private solo trip to Transylvania a few days ago, I can honestly say that I have never seen him looking so relaxed. With binoculars round his neck, sunglasses on, sporting a tan, and laughing, he looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself.

With all the drama unfolding back home as his youngest son Prince Harry takes to the witness stand, King Charles clearly made a wise and deliberate decision to be away. Not only would everyone be speculating on whether the father and son would meet or not meet, he can at least try in Transylvania to try and shield himself as much as possible from all the revelations that are coming out almost minute by minute.

Although it is incredibly difficult to avoid the news in any part of the world one travels, if reports are to be believed, it would seem that Transylvania could be the place where it is possible. According to House & Garden in 2022, “Nowhere is this bucolic bliss more prevalent than in Transylvania, where King Charles owns a guesthouse that you can stay at for as little as £105 a night.” The article goes on to say “don’t expect wifi, radio or TV here- and this is all part of the charm.”

It is expected that King Charles will return to the UK soon and this is only a short visit away, but it is clearly very well timed. It is also his first visit overseas since his historic coronation last month. Although Prince Harry returned for this momentous occasion, there was no time for father and son to catch up as Prince Harry rushed back after the ceremony in order to make it back for Prince Archie’s fourth birthday celebrations in Montecito

Although many may naturally believe that it will not be possible for King Charles to not be made aware of the news from Prince Harry’s court case, his ‘break’ in Transylvania will clearly leave him refreshed and ready to face all the revelations that are emerging from the trial when he returns to the UK.
