Kim Kardashian was the curator of Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2023 collection and if Meghan Markle does sign a deal with Dior, expect to see similar collabs

Ignore the Meghan Markle and Kim Kardashian similarities at your peril. There has been lots of talk over the years about whether Meghan Markle is trying to emulate the reality star, particularly because the Duchess of Sussex reportedly hired Kim’s former bodyguard recently to protect her.

The pair have worked with the same hairdresser, Michael Silver, he created Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala look in 2017 and worked with Meghan Markle when she worked on Suits. However, there is lots more substance to the Kim/Meghan similarities than this.

The most obvious one is that Kim Kardashian has managed to collaborate or ‘curate’  with fashion house Dolce & Gabbana and it looks like the Duchess of Sussex might be doing the same in the near future if she signs with Dior. In an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim said: “This is a big deal to me. She went on to say “I do Skims, I’m very confident in that, but I never thought I’d ever have an opportunity like this.”

In September 2022, Vogue wrote that “The designers asked the superstar-who has an extensive private collection of their archive pieces to select her favourite looks from their own archives between 1987 and 2007. Then, they remade them, flew to Los Angeles, and started putting together the collection with Kardashian.

Cue Meghan Markle. The Meghan Markle/Dior potential deal might be new news, but the Meghan Markle/Dior connection is anything but. The Duchess of Sussex has long been a fan of the designer label. Not only did she wear Dior for Prince Archie’s christening, but she wore Dior to the RAF 100th Anniversary Celebrations in 2018, on a visit to Morocco in 2019 and to the Platinum Jubilee National Service of Thanksgiving in 2022.

It isn’t only Meghan who has been a fan of wearing Dior. Not only did Prince Harry wear Dior to King Charles’s coronation but he also wore the Dior ‘Bee’ shirt to court in March 2023.

Now back to Meghan and Kim. It would seem that not only do the pair have lots in common, but Kim Kardashian is also a fan of the royal couple too. When she appeared at a tech conference in 2019, she took time to defend the couples against their critics when asked for her opinion of them. “”I think that everyone makes their own choices and decisions,” she said. “And I think that, like I said, no one’s gonna be perfect. I’m not, they’re not. I don’t know who is.”

Kim also said at the conference that “I still love and value the fact they bring such attention to such important movements that need to happen and things that they're really passionate about, they’re still changing the world.”

In January 2023, The Sun reported that Netflix executives were keen for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to film a reality series. “It has led bosses to up their interest in a fly-on-the-wall style show filmed at the couple’s $14.7m mansion in Montecito” the source said.

Although these rumours may prove to be pure speculation, I would definitely not rule out a ‘Keeping Up with the Sussexes’ in the future. Watch this space…
