Sporting Lisbon’s departing boss Ruben Amorin starts work at Old Trafford next week, with many predicting that the 26-year-old frontman will follow in January.
Gyokeres hit a hat-trick as Sporting beat Manchester City in the Champions league in midweek, a performance that stole the headlines. Former Coventry striker Clinton Morrison has been following the progress of the Swede who made his name at the midlands club before moving to Portugal, and reckons he’ll be a hit in the Premier League.

“He never stops running. The one thing defenders don't like, the centre-forwards that want to run the other way. He doesn't really care about coming towards the ball. I didn't know he'd be the player that he is now, but huge credit must go to him, and he's still at a young age so he's only going to get better.”
Gyokeres, 26, began his career with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden, before moving to Brighton. After four appearances and loan spells at Swansea City and St Pauli in Germany, he settled at Coventry where he featured in the Championship play-off final. But it is in the Portuguese capital where his game has really blossomed.
“You have to give huge credit to Amorim, because he's turned him into one of the top centre-forwards in world football at the moment,” Morrison added. “But I was surprised. He's the main man there at the club now, and he's scoring goals for fun, so he might be ready eventually to come to the Premier League and follow his manager - watch this space!”
