Formula One fans may get to see a bit more than racing this weekend as Brad Pitt is set to start filming his new Apple TV movie. Spectators may even get a role in the film as an extra!

The unnamed movie based on the Formula One will be filmed around grand prix weekends until the end of the year and filming starts this weekend at the British GP in Silverstone. Brad will play Sonny Hayes alongside British actor Damson Idris who will play Joshua Pearce. The film will be directed by Joe Kosinski and Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton is also part of the production team ensuring it’s realism.

Pictures of the fictional team APXGP racing car design with yellow and black colour scheme were released by F1 and Apple Original Films. 

The racing event draws in over 40,000 spectators watching over the weekend and even a few celebrities who are fans of the sport. Last year we saw acting legend Keanu Reeves turn up to watch Carlos Sainz win his first pole position of his career. 

Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise is a regular in the VIP area. As well as Wimbledon the actor is a huge fan of the Grand Prix. He previously helped the pit crew change out the tires of his pal Lewis Hamilton during the Miami Grand Prix in May. The actor is currently promoting his new movie Dead Reckoning Part One so we are sure he will be able to pop over and watch the event. 

Professional Chef Gordan Ramsay attended with his daughter Holly Ramsay. The pair posed for pictures in the Red Bull Racing garage. Other famous faces at the event included comedian Michael McIntyre, footballer Virgil van Dijk, actor Damien Lewis and TV presenter Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff.

But it’s not just an all boys affair. Spice Girl, Geri Horner is a usual face at the Grand Prix. She has been a regular attendee since marrying former British racing driver and principal of the Red Bull Team, Christian Horner OBE in 2015. 

Ginger Spice’s pals Melanie Chisholm and Emma Bunton have also been spotted at the Silverstone track in previous years.
