2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup: England announce squad for New Zealand tournament

England have announced their squad for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup.

The 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be the twelfth edition of the competition and will be held in New Zealand next month.

The tournament, that was postponed from last year due to Covid-19, is scheduled to begin 4 March and run through to April 3.

England will begin their World Cup adventure with a match against Australia on March 5 at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

The knockout stage will begin at the end of March, before the final is due to take place on April 3 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

Ahead of next month’s tournament, England announced their squad yesterday.

Lisa Keightley has included rookie all-rounder Emma Lamb in England’s 15-player squad, despite the 24-year-old only making her one-day international debut earlier this week.

Heither Knight will captain the team, while Sarah Glenn and batter Maia Bouchier have not been named in the squad.

The latter made herself unavailable for selection after England players were given the otpion to step down from the World Cup due to the quarantine period and Covid-19 protocols required.
