England made it three wins from three with a 2-1 win against Poland last night, as Harry Maguire's thumping finish saw Gareth Southgate's side round off a morale-boosting 2022 Word Cup qualification.
The international break has left Southgate with a Euro 2020 squad selection dilemma more fraught with peril than making a definitive decision on a Saturday night takeaway meal deal:
Will he go with tried and tested, stodgy mac 'n' cheese that is Eric Dier? Perhaps the tantalising jalapeno poppers that are Phil Foden? Or Jack Grealish, the human embodiment of a combo sizzler platter.
You can't have them all, Gareth! Food for thought, it certainly is.
Anyway, that aside, we've kept a watchful eye over all of Southgate's players during the three-game international break bonanza, and ranked them accordingly. Here's we rared every Three Lions player to feature over the course of the World Cup qualification matches:
1. Kieran Trippier - Overall rating: 5/10
The Atletico Madrid man featured for 45 minutes against San Marino, but his efforts were a far cry from the gut-busting showing from James in the first half. A touch of complacency creeping in, perhaps? Photo: Pool
2. Tyrone Mings - Overall rating: 5.8/10
A quiet second half for the Aston Villa ace saw him with little to do, but he, like the rest of the defence, managed not to disgrace themselves by conceding a goal, which is all you can ask. Photo: Pool
3. Nick Pope - Overall rating: 6/10
With nothing to do in the first two games, you could have forgiven him for pulling out a deckchair and enjoying the action with a ramekin of salted pistachios. Against Poland, he looked worryingly shaky with the ball at his feet. That number one shirt isn't his just yet. Photo: Catherine Ivill
4. Conor Coady - Overall rating: 6.2/10
He kept his concentration up against San Marino, in a game where he could have easily gotten away with doing a cheeky Sudoku or two on the sly. Photo: Pool
