The two teams have fought their way to the final stage of the competition, which boasts the added incentive of a Champions League spot next season for the winner - something which will be of great significance to Villarreal, who are not on track to secure European qualification via their standing in the league.

Manchester United crashed out the Champions League in the group stages, with Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig progressing to the next round.

The Red Devils entered the Europa League at the Round of 32 stage, and beat Real Sociedad, AC Milan, Granada and, last night, Roma, to make the Final.

Villarreal topped their group without losing a single game, before knocking out RB Salzburg, DInamo Kiev, DInamo Zagreb and Arsenal in the subsequent rounds.

When is the Final?

The Final will take place on 26th May, with an 20:00 (UK time) kick-off.

The Europa League 2021 Final will be held in Gdansk, Poland. It will take place in the 41,000-seater Stadion Miejski, with around 10,000 fans expected to be allowed in to see the game under Covid-19 restrictions.
