Manchester City were reported to have agreed a £160m deal to sign England captain Kane from Spurs this summer.

Kane signed a new six-year deal in 2018, commiting him to Tottenham Hotspur until 2024.

What Harry Kane has said

“Individual awards are great, they are fantastic achievements,” the striker said in a recent interview

“When I look back at the end of my career, I will go over it and take in a little bit more. The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies.

“As much as this the personal awards are great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team, and we are not quite doing that.

“It is one of those [situations], it is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies than individual award. It is what it is. I am proud to win it. It means it has been a good season on the pitch, so I have just got to try and continue what I am doing.”

What Tottenham boss Nuno has said

“Now is the moment for him to recover his energy and rest. Then we can speak,” said Portuguese boss Nuno.

“Harry is one of the best players in the world. That is all I need to say. What I wish is for Harry to recover well, to have a good rest and when he arrives he will feel that every one of us needs to commit themselves to becoming better.

“We are very ambitious people. We want to do it well. We count on Harry on that.”

Harry Kane’s statistics

The England captain has scored 220 goals in 334 games for Tottenham. He is currently seventh on the Premier League all time goal-scorers chart with 166 goals, 94 fewer than Alan Shearer’s 260 and with Kane turning 28 next Wednesday, there is every chance that he could go on to break it at some point.

Last season, Kane won the golden boot ahead of Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah with 23 goals, the third time he’s won the prestigious award in his career.

In better news for Spurs, they have announced that their South Korean international Son Heung-Min has signed a new four-year deal that will keep him at the club till 2025.

There had been reports last season that the Korean was frustrated by the club’s lack of success on the pitch and the speculation around Kane’s future, but his strike partner has put to bed all rumours and committed his future to the club.

Son said: “There was no decision. It was easy. I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon.

“It was already a big honour to play here for six years. The club have showed me massive, massive respect and obviously I’m very happy to be here.”
