After two years of EFL Trophy finals played behind closed doors - with the 2020 edition played a year late - the Wembley Stadium showdown will finally return with fans.

Rotherham United will be the hot favourites to lift the trophy after knocking out Hartlepool United on penalties in the semi-final, while Sutton United caused an upset by beating Wigan Athletic.

The Millers haven’t won the competition since 1996 when they beat Shrewsbury Town, while Sutton will be searching for their first Cup since they won the Isthmian League Cup in 1998.

When is it?

Rotherham and Sutton United will face off at Wembley Stadium this Sunday (April 3 2022).

The match is due to kick off at 3pm.

How to watch on TV

The Papa Johns Trophy final will be shown live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Ultra HD.

Coverage will begin at 2:30pm following the Old Firm derby between Rangers and Celtic and is due to finish at 5:30pm.

This could run over if the match goes to extra-time and penalties.

There will also be live updates on the EFL’s official social media channels.

Are tickets still available?

Tickets in either end of the stadium are still available, with adult prices ranging from £50.40 for Category 2 to £22.40 for Category 6.

Under-17 tickets are on sale for as little as £12.40.

Rotherham confirmed they had sold 12,299 tickets on Thursday morning, while Sutton had shifted 13,500 tickets by Wednesday afternoon.

The deadline to buy tickets is Friday 1st April at 9am.
