The capital of Ukraine is Kiev, slightly to the north of the centre of the country.

Kiev sits on the banks of the Dnieper River, and has a population of around 2.97 million, as of January 2020.

The traditionally accepted date for the founding of the city is 482 AD, but there is evidence of humans inhabiting the area as far back as the Stone Age.

Kiev has been capital of Ukraine since 1918.

Ukraine has a population of around 41.4 million, making it the eighth-most populous nation in Europe.

The Ukrainian nation team play their home fixtures in the Olimpiyskiy Stadium, Kiev.

The ground was first opened in 1923, and as of 2011, has a capacity of 70,050.

The stadium was used as a venue at both the 1980 summer Olympics and Euro 2012.

Throughout Euro 2020, Ukraine’s base camp has been in Bucharest.

They split their group matches between the Romanian capital and Amsterdam, and played their round of 16 clash against Sweden at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

What have Ukraine’s previous results at Euro 2020?

Ukraine finished third in their group behind Austria and the Netherlands.

Andriy Shevchenko’s men lost to both of those sides, but were able to beat North Macedonia 2-1 to secure a spot in the knockout rounds.

Their clash against Sweden in the round of 16 ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Artem Dovbyk popping up in the 121st minute to win the game in extra time.
