The future of Erling Haaland is expected to be the biggest transfer story of the summer, with the striker wanted by several of the biggest clubs in world football.

Among those interested in the Norwegian are Manchester City with the Premier League champions understood to have made a proposal to both the player and his club, Borussia Dortmund.

However, there are still a lot of details to sort out before any deal is done and this story might have a few twists in the tale yet - especially if the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have anything to say about it.

If the Norway international does leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, which looks highly likely, then the Etihad Stadium is currently his most probable destination.

Meanwhile, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is reporting that City have submitted a proposal to the player and his club that they “are convinced is the best one”.

He wrote: “Erling Haaland. Manchester City are convinced that their proposal is the best one - including club project, salary, Guardiola plans and perspectives for the player. #MCFC ...but City are still working to get Haaland deal done - as nothing has been completed/signed yet.”

Romano isn’t the only person who believes that City are in prime position to land the Dortmund star, the bookmakers also believe that it is a done deal with the Sky Blues currently priced at an incredibly short 1/20 to sign Haaland before September 3, 2022.

To put that even more in context, Real Madrid are second favourites in the market at a whopping 12/1 while the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona are 20/1.

Haaland has only managed 31 appearances for club and country this season and has missed ten of Dortmund’s 30 Bundesliga games this season through various injuries.

In total, the player has reportedly picked up five different injuries this season causing him to miss over 100 days of action.

However, when fit the 21-year old has continued to find the back of the net with incredible frequency.

Halland has scored a stunning 33 goals in 31 appearances for club and country this season.

In the Bundesliga he has 18 goals in 20 appearances for a goals per 90 minutes ratio of 1.04.

He is currently the league’s third top scorer with only Bayern Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick (20) and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (32) ahead of him.

Finding the back of the net isn’t something that has only recently been a part of the striker’s game, his senior career total currently stands at an impressive 151 goals in 196 club appearances.
