Manchester United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, has started only twice this season, despite starting the campaign as the Red Devils’ number one.

David De Gea’s form has led to Henderson dropping to the bench and the 24-year-old is growing frustrated by the lack of game time.

It was revealed last month that Henderson had met with Ralf Rangnick and expressed his desire to leave the club on loan.

Now the German has reiterated his intention to keep Henderson at Old Trafford beyond the January transfer window.

“A couple of weeks ago he asked me [if he could leave] but I told him I’d rather have him stay until the end of the season,” Rangnick told talkSPORT.

“We are very happy with our goalkeepers but if it’s up to me I wouldn’t want him to leave,” he added before reiterating the importance of having more than one top shot-stopper at the club."

An impressive loan spell with Sheffield United led to Henderson being promised a place in between the sticks but contracted Covid-19 weeks into the season.

De Gea has now started every Premier League match and five of their six Champions League group fixtures so far.

The England international has now seen his transfer request rejected as he eaglery searches for more minutes on the pitch, with Rangnick keen to keep him as back-up.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Henderson’s situation as they consider a summer move for the keeper.
