There have been some hugely contrasting fortunes in the Premier League this season.

At one end of the table, we have Manchester City, who look destined to recapture their title crown after winning 22 out of their 30 matches so far to open up a 14-point lead at the top.

By contrast, at the foot of the table we have Sheffield United – 14 points adrift of safety with just four wins out of 29.

In between those two extremes, the top flight has been decidedly cutthroat this term, and for the most part teams have been picking up and dropping points with reckless abandon.

Even at this late stage of the campaign, there are still five sides in with a realistic shout of finishing in fourth position, while anybody from 14th-placed Southampton downwards will feel that they still need to do a little more to rubber stamp their Premier League status for next season.
