Why Burnley sacked Sean Dyche: Manager odds on who could be next boss - including Sam Allardyce

There are plenty of experienced candidates in the frame to take over at Turf Moor including ex-Manchester United and Liverpool bosses.

Burnley have sensationally sacked manager Sean Dyche with just eight games remaining in the Premier League season.

The Clarets are fighting against relegation and currently sit 18th in the table, having won just four league matches all season.

Dyche had been in charge at Turf Moor for just under a decade, taking over from Eddie Howe in 2012.

During his tenure in charge the 50-year old twice guided the club to promotion from the Championship, finishing second in the 2013/14 campaign and then winning the title in 2015/16 having been relegated during their first season in the top flight.

Since then he has established them as a top flight side with their best finish coming in the 2017/18 season when they qualified for European Football after coming seventh.

However, club chairman Alan Pace confirmed in a statement that Dyche had been relieved of his duties due to their poor results this season.

Under-23s coach Mike Jackson, assisted by Academy Director Paul Jenkins, Under-23s goalkeeping coach Connor King and Club Captain Ben Mee have been asked to take charge of the team for Sunday’s game with West Ham United.

Burnley will now look for a new manager and it’s a former England boss who is leading the betting market while there is also plenty of Premier League experience amongst the contenders.

The list consists of ex-Manchester United and Liverpool bosses as well as coaches who have previously taken charge at Burnley’s current relegation rivals like Everton and Norwich City.

Here are the top ten candidates in the current betting market to be the next permanent Burnley manager:
