Chelsea supporters have had a positive few days after their side fought back to draw 2-2 with Liverpool after initially being 2-0 down.
Thiago Silva featured at Stamford Bridge - despite missing out midweek due to injury - and it has now been confirmed that he has signed a new deal with the club.
The Brazilian has extended his contract by one year and will remain in London until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Silva told Chelsea’s official website that playing for the club is a ‘real pleasure’.
The 37-year-old said: "I never thought I would play for three years here in this great club so I'm very happy to stay for another season.
"To play here with Chelsea is a real pleasure, I'm going to give everything to keep playing at this level in the most important league in the world."
Silva joined the Blues in August 2020 from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer - arriving with eight league titles and 18 domestic cups under his belt.
The Brazil international has since impressed at Stamford Bridge as he helped them to Champions League glory last season.
Silva’s success in England has seen this become the second time that Chelsea have opted to extend his contract.
The centre-back could feature for the Blues in their first match since his contract extension as they host Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening.
