Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini will become the first signing of the Nuno Espirito Santo era after completing the first part his medical in Italy yesterday.

He is expected to arrive at Tottenham’s Enfield training ground on Thursday morning where he’ll finish the second part of his medical before signing a season loan deal with an obligation to buy for £15million.

Gollini has English football experience having played 20 league games for Aston Villa in the Championship in 2016 before returning to Italy to join Atalanta where he’s been first choice since.

His arrival will cast doubt on the future of Joe Hart who was brought in last season by Jose Mourinho to provide both competition and experience to first choice Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham are also interested in Pierluigi’s teammate Cristian Romero but know they will have to offload some players before getting the deal across the line.

Nationalworld.com understand that talks are also advanced with Sevilla to swap Eric Lamela with winger Bryan Gil but a reported £21.6million inserted in the deal has caused a gridlock in discussions with Tottenham dragging their feet.

Lamela is the last man standing out of the nine players that were signed from the money raised from the sale of then world-record move of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and will bring an end to his eight-year stay in North London.

He was signed from Roma in 2013 and has gone on to make more than 260 appearances for Tottenham.
