Liverpool have set their sights on one of Tottenham’s attacking full backs as they seek a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

As previously reported, the English right-back is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave Anfield, with Real Madrid seemingly the likely destination. Alexander-Arnold, 26, is known for bombing up and down the pitch to create space and play crucial passes in the final third.

Liverpool have accepted that Alexander-Arnold will leave and are ready to negotiate with Real Madrid, reports Marca. In the meantime, the Reds are looking for a direct replacement - and seem to have found their man already.

According to Football.London, Arne Slot’s men will target Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro in the January transfer window. The Spaniard plays in a similar style to Alexander-Arnold, and has emerged as one of the best full backs in the league under manager Ange Postecoglu.

Porro, 25, joined Spurs in 2023 from Portuguese side Sporting CP, for a fee of £39m after a six-month loan deal. With a contract that runs until 2028, the Reds will have to fork out a hefty amount of money as the London side will undoubtedly want to sell him for a sizeable profit.

Manchester United ‘desperate’ for Barcelona midfielder

Following talk that two of Manchester United’s midfielders could be leaving Old Trafford, the Red Devils are looking to bring in replacements as a matter of urgency. With both Christian Eriksen and Casemiro’s futures in doubt, it’s thought that Erik ten Hag is ‘desperate’ to bring in a big name to compensate.

For years, Man United have been linked with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The versatile midfielder can play as a defensive midfielder - like Casemiro - spread passes in a regista role like Eriksen or run box-to-box. This season, the Dutchman has played just 28 minutes of football after being sidelined with an ankle injury.

According to Fichajes, de Jong will be ten Hag’s top priority when the January transfer window opens. The 27-year-old has worked with ten Hag before, when the pair were at Ajax, but has a contract until 2026 and will likely not be cheap, with Barcelona looking to recuperate most, if not all, of his €85m transfer fee.
