West Ham are looking to bring former Liverpool defender Joel Matip to the club on a free transfer, according to a report from CaughtOffside. At the age of 33, his best years may be behind him - nevertheless, the Hammers hierarchy seem to think that he still has something to offer at the highest level.
They aren’t alone in their pursuit, however - Leicester City, Fulham and Bournemouth have also been linked with a move for the player. As things stand, Matip’s final decision remains to be seen. The Irons have offered Matip a two-year contract - by the time it expires, he will be 35.
