The 2022 World Cup draw has now been made and there are an array of exciting matches to look forward to but what teams have officially qualified for the Qatar tournament later this year?

There were celebrations in countries across the world this week as several more teams secured their spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals, the draw for which has now been made.

There are 14 teams in total who have added their names to the finals list, following the most recent round of international fixtures this month.

The eight UEFA group winners were amongst the first teams to confirm their places along, with the CONMEBOL winners and runners-up.

In total, 29 nations have booked their spots at the finals with five more places still up for grabs. Of those teams already qualified, only one nation will be making their debut at the World Cup finals and that is Qatar who have qualified as hosts.

Four-time winners Italy are the most prominent side who will be missing out, after their UEFA play-off semi final defeat to North Macedonia.

Meanwhile, four other nations will return after missing the finals in 2018 while one nation are returning to the big stage for the first time in 26 years, with their last appearance coming at Mexico 1986.

One, if not both, of Scotland or Wales will be missing out on the finals, with their UEFA play-off postponed as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine which has also seen 2018 hosts Russia disqualified.
