The Reds will be in great spirits following the win and would certainly have been eager to continue their chase for the top spot this weekend, however they have much bigger plans.

Meanwhile, Arsenal already have three matches in hand over a number of Premier League clubs after their match against Chelsea was postponed earlier this month and they are now set to increase their fixture pile up with the rescheduled fixture against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Gunners could drop down to seventh this weekend and, with only four points between themselves and a Champions League spot, will be frustrated that they are unable to feature.

Why is Arsenal v Liverpool postponed?

Arsenal v Liverpool was postponed in January after the Merseyside club beat Mikel Arteta’s side 2-0 on aggregate in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Gunners had held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first leg, however were unable to keep them at bay at the Emirates Stadium and suffered a disappointing 2-0 home defeat.

Liverpool’s success meant they progressed to the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, which is due to take place at 4:30pm on Sunday February 27 - the day after they were due to travel to Arsenal.

As a result, the Premier League match was rescheduled.

When will Arsenal v Liverpool be played?

It was confirmed last week that Arsenal v Liverpool will now kick off at 8:15pm on Wednesday March 16.

For Arsenal, the clash falls between matches against Leicester City and Aston Villa, while Liverpool will take on Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United either side of their trip to London.
