Some tracks, such as Monza and Silverstone, solidify themselves as fan favourites and have withstood the test of time. These circuits provide plenty of entertainment for fans and are adored by drivers.
But other circuits are either so terrible that they don’t stick around, are so dull that the races are forgettable, or disappear from the calendar due to political disputes. Either way, they become relics of seasons gone by - and eventually vanish from our memories altogether.
Here are 10 circuits that you probably forgot F1 had raced on. Do you remember any of these? Are there tracks we forgot about too?

5. Brands Hatch, UK
Closer to home, Brands Hatch hosted 14 grand prix in total between 1964 and 1986. A lap record of 1:09.593 was set by Nigel Mansell in his Williams, pictured here battling with teammate Nelson Piquet in 1986. | Getty Images

6. Aintree Motor Circuit, UK
Better known for horse racing, a different type of horsepower came to Aintree in the 1950s and 60s. Aintree Motor Circuit hosted the British Grand Prix five times - in 1955, 1957, 1959, 1961 and 1962. 7. Buddh International Circuit, India
Three races were held in consecutive years at the Buddh International Circuit in India. The 2013 grand prix is perhaps the most famous, as it's where Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel won his fourth world championship, and was photographed bowing to his car after crossing the finish line. | Ker Robertson/Getty Images

8. Avus, Germany
Using a stretch of the Autobahn, Avus was the equivalent of having a grand prix up and down the M27. With just two hairpins - one at either end, one of them a banking - the cars were at full throttle for most of the race. What this meant was barely any overtaking and a bunch of drivers retiring after their engines gave up. It hosted just one race, in 1959, before far better circuits were found in Germany... such as Hockenheim and the infamous Nurburgring. | Klemantaski Collection/Getty Images
