Who is Max Verstappen’s Formula One nepo-baby girlfriend Kelly Piquet?

Max Verstappen is hoping that three time’s a charm for this Formula One season, as the reigning World Champ heads into the 2023 championship with two titles to his name and a promising car under him.

While he has a solid crew at Red Bull behind him including team principal Christian Horner and his father who is also a former competitive driver, Max, 25, could also gain insight from his girlfriend Kelly Piquet, 34, who has both family and career ties in the motorsport world, as to how to secure his third title.

German-born model Kelly Piquet has been dating Max since January 2020, and carries racing in her blood from father Nelson Piquet, who in fact is a three-time World Champion, winning in 1981, 1983 and 1987.

Although Kelly is the daughter of Brazilian driver Nelson and Dutch model Sylvia Tamsma, and was born in Germany, she spent the majority of her childhood in France. 

As well as being a Formula One nepo-baby, Kelly passed on the racing genes to her daughter born in 2019, that she shares with former F1 driver Daniil Kyvaat.

Kelly was in a relationship with the Russian driver from January 2017 until December 2019, giving birth to Penelope in July earlier that year.

It is important to note that Kelly is not only linked to the racing world through her relationships both familial and romantic, but she also has worked for Formula E (the electronic version of F1) since 2015 and is responsible for their social media coverage.

From her work in social media and as a model appearing on the likes of the Dutch Vogue, Kelly’s net worth is an impressive $5 million.

After Max’s record-breaking efforts last year in the 2022 calendar when he won 15 races out of 22, he earned £16.6 million in bonuses, adding onto his massive £33.2 million salary, the two-time Champ overtook Lewis Hamilton as the sport’s biggest earner.
