Legendary boxing promoter Don King has denied that he is on his last legs - after former protege Mike Tyson suggested he wasn't "doing well" following a stint in hospital.

King has issued a statement contradicting Tyson's version of events.

It's short and to the point and says: "Tell everyone I am doing fine and I love Mike Tyson" King is quoted as saying, as reported by MailOnline.

Tyson had told the It Is What It Is podcast that King, 93, ill. American celebrity website TMZ said they had backed this up with sources close to King, who confirmed he had had a blood transfusion and had been in hospital for 10 days.

But King has come out fighting - and clearly hopes to be back on the business trail soon for the latest round of his astonishing career, which has seen him organised showstopping events such as Muhammad Ali's Rumble in the Jungle and Thrilla in Manila in the 1970s, as well as his work with Tyson and other heavyweight champions in the 1980s and 1990s.
