We are tantalisingly close to ‘The heaviest boxing match in history’ as Eddie Hall and Thor prepare to go head-to-head.

The contest will see two winners of the World’s Strongest Man competition lock horns in Dubai, and it’s not one to be missed.

British powerhouse Hall, who was crowned World’s Strongest Man in 2017, is taking on the Icelandic winner of the 2018 edition, Hafthor Björnsson, and it’s set to be a heavyweight battle in every sense of the phrase.

When is Thor vs Eddie?

The fight between Eddie Hall and Hafþór Björnsson will take place in Dubai’s Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Saturday, March 19.

The fight is expected to get underway at 9pm UK time, and there is no undercard, so there shouldn’t be many - if any - delays.

Is it on TV?

Segi TV are allowing fans to register for free to watch the fight without cost, and coverage will begin at 8.30pm.

Weigh-in details

The weigh-in has already taken place, and the two fighters did not disappoint.

After trimming down to get in shape for the fight, Hall weighed in at 142.2kg at the fierce face-off.

Björnsson, who played ‘The Mountain’ in the Game of Thrones series, weighed in a little heavier, at 152kg.

Both fighters have lost significant weight for this fight, with The Beast just under 55kg lighter than during his strongman days.

Meanwhile, Thor has lost 53kg himself to get into boxing shape.

The combined weight of the fighters is 294.2kg, which totals 42.6 stone - to put that into context, that’s roughly one vending machine filled with ten bags of sugar.

Prize money

The prize money for this fight will be a donation to charity.

The fighters have agreed that they will both donate $200,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.

There is also a further wager, with the fighters agreeing that the loser must get the opponent’s name tattooed on their body.
