Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley: date and UK time of the fight, how to watch - plus latest odds on the winner

Jake Paul currently boasts an undefeated status as a professional boxer – but could Tyron Woodley put an end to that?

Jake Paul has been working hard on getting boxing fans to take him seriously as a professional boxer, and with three wins already under his belt, he is eyeing up a fourth.

Tyron Woodley will be the latest to step into the ring with Paul, after having trained with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, who recently bested Paul’s brother Logan in their boxing match.

Who are the fighters?

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, 24, will face off against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in a boxing match.

Paul, the brother of Logan Paul, has won all three of his boxing matches to date, defeating MMA veteran Ben Askren, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and social media personality Ali Eson Gib.

He first tried his hand at boxing during an amateur fight against Deji, KSI’s younger brother, in 2018, when KSI and Logan Paul first faced off against one another. Paul won by KO, and he turned pro less than two years later.

Tyron Woodley, 39, presents a different kind of opponent for Paul - he is a former UFC Welterweight Champion who held the title for nearly three years. In school Woodley excelled in American football and amateur wrestling, and competed at university level. He won national recognition for his achievements.

Woodley’s mixed martial arts record reads 19 wins, seven losses and one draw from his 27 matches. At the start of his professional career, he enjoyed a 10 fight winning streak.

In terms of UFC matches, his record shows nine wins and one draw from 16 UFC matches, and he suffered with four straight losses from March 2019 after losing the Welterweight Championship belt.

The undercard for the match will see Tommy Fury, ex-Love Island star and half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, face off against Anthony Taylor, Daniel Dubois against Juiseppe Cusumano, Ivan Barancyhk versus Montana Love and Charles Conwell against Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida.

What have the two said about the fight?

Speaking about the fight, Paul said: “Tyron said he’s training like he’s fighting Mike Tyson. Mayweather is training him and you can tell he’s in shape. He’s got the six pack back. He’s looking good, he’s not messing around.

“This is his biggest fight ever and the whole MMA community is counting on him to represent them and to get the [win]. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.

“And when I beat him, there will be no excuses because he was being trained by Mayweather. Because Jorge Masvidal said he was going to knock me out. Because he took this camp and had a 14 week camp. He has no excuses.”

Speaking on The MMA Hour, Woodley said: “I’m just glad to be a part of it, but I’m not only here to participate. I’m here to f****ing take over. And you’re going to see Jake Paul get hurt in a way you’d never imagine.

“He may not want to do this again after this.”

During their first press conference in July, Paul proposed the two have a bet.

He said: “Let’s make a new bet right now. If I beat you, you have to get “I love Jake Paul” tattooed on you, but if you beat me I have to get “I love Tyron Woodley” tattooed on me, and you have to post it on your Instagram feed.

“Deal or no deal? Are you confident or not?”

After asking the press in attendance whether he should take up the wager, Woodley replied: “Bet. Deal.”

It appears that Paul is taking the bet very seriously - tattoo artist Tatu Baby said that Paul reached out to her to design the tattoos, something which she has done and posted on her Instagram.

She said: “Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley have a right this Sunday and as you may have heard the loser has to tattoo “I love Jake/Tyron” on himself.

“Well, Jake Paul reached out to me and I’m flying into Cleveland to tattoo the loser. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. The loser is getting one of these inked.”
