The Tokyo Olympics is almost upon us.
Thousands of athletes from all over the world are set to compete over 19 days of Olympic Games action.
As well as the staple events such as athletics, swimming, cycling, archery and weightlifting come new Olympic sports.

Tokyo 2020 will see surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing and karate all make their debut at the delayed Olympic Games.
The sporting spectacle, which was pushed back a year due to the Covid pandemic, will also see the return of baseball and softball.
Here's a look at the Tokyo Olympics schedule, sport-by-sport as well as some key dates for the diary.


Tokyo Olympics - key dates
The final countdown to the Tokyo Olympics is on and all eyes are on the Opening Ceremony on Friday 23 July to signal the start of the Games.

Here is a selection of other key dates over the Olympics and times, with all times in British Summer Time - eight hours behind Tokyo local time.
Athletics - The women's 100m final will take place on Saturday 31 July (11am-1.55pm) and could feature British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, with Zharnel Hughes in contention to feature in the men's 100m final taking place on Sunday 1 August (11am-1.55pm).
Swimming - Adam Peaty will be hoping to be in the final of the men's 100m breaststroke on Monday 26 July (2.30am-4.40am). He begins his defence of the title in the second session on Saturday 24 July (11am-1.30pm).
Track cycling - Fans of the sport will be glued to their TV sets for large parts of the second week of the Olympics, with Brit Jason Kenny likely to feature on Wednesday 4 August (7.30am-11am) on a day which sees the men's team pursuit finals and sprint qualifying. Sunday 8 August (2am-5.15am) sees women's omnium, sprint finals and could feature Laura Kenny.

Diving - Tom Daley will be looking to finally land an Olympic gold in Tokyo. He could feature in the men's 10m platform synchro final with Matty Lee on Monday 26 July (7am-8am) and the men's 10m platform final on Saturday 7 August (7am-8.30am).
Triathlon - The men's race will see Jonathan Brownlee and Alex Yee compete on Monday 26 July (10.30pm-1am), with the women's race held on Tuesday 27 July (10.30pm-1am) and features Georgia Taylor-Brown, Vicky Holland and Jess Learmonth. The first ever mixed team relay event at the Olympics will take place on Saturday 31 July (11.30pm-1.25am) and will feature a Great Britain team.
Road cycling - Tao Geoghegan Hart, Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates and Simon Yates are likely to feature in the men's cycling road race on Saturday 25 July (3am-10.15am). Lizzie Deignan will compete in the women's cycling road race on Sunday 25 July (5am-9.35am).
Tennis - Andy Murray and Heather Watson will have eyes on reaching the final of the men's and women's singles finals. The women's gold medal match will take place on Saturday 31 July (4am-12noon), with the men's gold medal match taking place Sunday 1 August (4am-12noon).
