Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will headline UFC 264 on July 10 despite the Irishman claiming the trilogy bout was off in an expletive-laden Twitter exchange.

The duo clashed in the build-up over a promised $500,000 donation to charity.

McGregor then took to Twitter to call the fight off and claim he will take on a different opponent.

What did Conor McGregor say on Twitter?

Posting first on Instagram, McGregor made a fight prediction on Monday. He posted: “The prediction is in! I’m going to win the trilogy fight via A Front Kick to the nose. Round number four. His nose needs straightening and I’m Rhinoplasty.”

Poirier then accused McGregor of 'ghosting' him and failing to deliver on a huge $500,000 donation promised to his foundation.

Before the rematch in January 2021, it was revealed McGregor would make the large donation to the American's 'Good Fight Foundation'.

However, Poirier took to Twitter on Monday to claim the donation has still not been made.

Poirier tweeted: 'That's a fun prediction! you also predicted a donation to my foundation and you and your team stopped responding after the fight in January. See you soon. July 10th Paid In Full!'

McGregor then took to Twitter to launch a foul-mothed rant at Poirier.

He wrote: “You're ripped you inbred hillbilly. Why do you wink with your ears? You f*****g brain dead hillbilly. 500k with no plan in place. Ye hang tight. Fool.

“You must be new to money. The fight is off btw. I'm going to fight someone else on the 10th. Good luck on your old contract kid.'

“My team does their due diligence to make sure every donation meets the mark. My generosity is known.

“You will pay with your brain for this attempt at smearing my name. Shooting ass shelling ass b****. Little b***** kicks from a shell. Good luck when you're caught. You're f*****.”

When is McGregor v Poirier 3?

The trilogy fight will take place at UFC 264, after the organisation's president Dana White confirmed that it will happen on July 10 in Las Vegas.

On Wednesday, White took to Twitter to announce that the two rivals will meet in the octagon for a third time at the T-Mobile Arena.

In addition, the headline fight at UFC 264 will take place at a full-capacity venue – meaning there will be 20,000 supporters with a ticket inside the Sin City location.
