Dina Asher-Smith is preparing for her Olympic gold medal bid as the track and field schedule gets under way on Friday – and success could even see her turned into a new Barbie doll!

Team GB star Dina Asher-Smith is aiming for an Olympic medal to go along with her World Championships success in 2019.

The Londoner is the poster girl for Team GB as the track and field competition starts in earnest.

The 25-year-old is in her second Olympics, having finished fifth in the 200m in Rio in 2016 and won bronze as part of the 4x100m relay squad.

What events is Dina Asher-Smith competing in?

Asher-Smith is doubling up in both the 100m and 200m in Tokyo.

Asher-Smith won silver in the 100m at the Athletics World Championships in Doha in 2019 and followed that up by taking gold in the 200m just days later.

She will also be part of the women’s 4x100m relay team.

Asher-Smith is the poster girl for Team GB, having become a role model for young women all around the country.

She follows in the footsteps of the likes of Denise Lewis and Jessica Ennis-Hill, who shot to fame thanks to their exploits on the track and helped to inspire a generation of young athletes.

Asher-Smith was even made into a Barbie doll to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2020.

Toy company Mattel honoured the world champion sprinter with a one-of-a-kind “Shero” doll in her likeness to celebrate their dual mission to inspire the limitless potential in every girl.

Maybe there could be another doll if Asher-Smith makes the podium in Tokyo.
