Baker is best known for his presenting stints on The One Show, Blue Peter and Countryfile.
However, he is no stranger to the Olympic sport having competed at the junior level in gymnastics as a child.
Speaking to the BBC in 2016, he said: “For me, to be able to express myself through movement was something that [made me think]: I’ve found it, and this is something I want to do for the rest of my life.
“It just clicked with me. It was something that I loved and I didn’t have to think about whether or not I wanted to [do it]. It wasn’t like my parents were pushing me into it.”

The presenter stopped the sport at the age of 14 after beginning to feel increasingly tired. After a visit to the doctor it was revealed he was anaemic.
Baker has been part of the BBC Olympics gymnastics team since Beijing 2008, commentating on every Team GB medal in the event through the last four Olympics.
Christine Still
Alongside Matt Baker providing expert analysis is Christine Still.
Still is a long-time gymnastic coach, and has worked with the BBC several times. She was honoured at the British Gymnastics National Awards in 2019 for her outstanding contribution to the sport.
