Who commentates on cycling at Olympics? Chris Boardman and Jill Douglas form part of BBC's Tokyo 2020 coverage

There’ll be a host of familiar faces hosting the Olympics this year.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics is being exclusively aired by the BBC, with a host of big sports personalities signed up to present and commentate.

The line-up includes some of the most well-known figures in sports broadcasting, including Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Dan Walker on presenting duties.

Alongside stars of broadcasting, some of team GB’s Olympians, including Chris Hoy and Matthew Pinsent, will be presenting.

Instead of having a studio in Tokyo itself, the BBC will be airing the majority of its coverage from its Salford base due to the ongoing pandemic.

These are the people who’ll be presenting and commentating on cycling at the Olympics, along with the main presenters for other sports.

Who are the commentators for cycling?

Chris Boardman

Chris Boardman, MBE is a British former racing cyclist. He won an individual pursuit gold medal at the 1992 summer Olympics and broke the world hour record three times.

His nickname is "The Professor", for his meticulous attention to detail in preparation and training. Boardman once had an altitude tent built in his house in order to prepare for the hour record attempt.

Simon Brotherton

Simon Brotherton is a veteran sports commentator with the BBC, as well as having appeared on BT Sport television.

He became the BBC’s lead commentator for the Track Cycling World Championships in 2013 and the lead commentator for the Olympic Games cycling from 2016.

Jill Douglas

Jill Douglas is a Scottish sports presenter who joined the BBC in 2003.

Who are the cycling pundits?

Chris Hoy

Chris Hoy is a Team GB Olympian and presenter who won a gold medal in three consecutive Olympic Games: 2004, 2008, 2012.

He also won gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and a silver at Sydney in 2000.

In 2008 he was also named BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

After retiring from cycling he became a jockey.

Victoria Pendleton

Victoria Pendleton won gold in the sprint at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as gold in the keirin at London 2012. She earned a silver medal in the sprint at the same Olympics.

Similarly to Chris Hoy, she became a jockey after retiring from cycling.

Jason Mohammad

Currently hosts Final Score on the BBC as well as being a co-host on Radio 5 with Robbie Savage

Hazel Irvine

Known for her broadcasting of athletics and snooker, Hazel Irvine has presented Rio 2016 alongside two Winter Olympic Games.

JJ Chalmers

JJ Chalmers was injured by a detonated bomb in Afghanistan and won an Invictus gold medal in 2014 in non-amputee cycling.

Alex Scott represented team GB at London 2010, earning 140 caps, and is a regular face in football punditry.
