Jeremy Kyle returned to television last October changing from ITV to Talk TV after his morning show was cancelled in 2019

Nearly four years after Jeremy Kyle’s ITV morning show was cancelled, the controversial television presenter is back on screens.

Jeremy Kyle had hosted the popular series ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ since it first aired in 2005 taking over from Trisha Goddard’s talk show, and drew in an audience of around one million viewers per episode for over 14 years.

The premise of the show consisted of Jeremy Kyle acting as a mediator when tackling issues dealing with family and relationships, with psychotherapist Graham Steiner acting as an advisor. Some episodes even included guests taking a lie detector test or DNA tests in an attempt to resolve conflicts.

However, the show brought as many controversies as conflicts to morning television, evident from a court judge describing the show as a form of ‘human bear-baiting under the guise of entertainment’ when a defendant appeared in court due to head-butting their love rival on Jeremy Kyle.

Despite the ongoing disputes Kyle’s show caused, rather than solved, it wasn’t until 2019 that the show was axed after a guest was found to have taken their own life following an appearance on the ITV show.

The episode was never published, and the series was promptly taken off air with no plans for it to ever return, with a Channel 4 two-part documentary exploring the complexities of the ITV show called Jeremy Kyle: Death on Daytime.

Off the back of this, Jeremy Kyle took a sabbatical for three years from television, but announced his return to screens on Rupert Murdoch’s Talk TV last year with a new talk show called Jeremy Kyle Live.

The premise of the talk show is for ‘straight-talking’ people to weigh in on news stories and issues that really matter - and comes after Jeremy Kyle filled in for Piers Morgan Live during the summer of 2022.

Fast-forward three months after Jeremy Kylle Live launched, the 57-year-old host has cemented his return to screens after he announced he had interviewed disgraced socialite Ghislaine Maxwell from ‘behind bars’ as she continues to serve her 20-year sentence in a Florida prison.

Ghislaine was sentenced for procuring girls for her late partner and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who crucially Ghislaine sheds light on when speaking to Jeremy Kyle.

It is said that Jeremy also discusses their mutual friend Prince Andrew and the late Queen Elizabeth II, in the episode that airs at 7pm on Talk TV.
