Where is Steve Allen and why isn’t he on LBC?

Loyal listeners of Steve Allen are used to hearing him from 4am-7am from Sunday to Friday.

His show involves discussion of stories from the day's newspapers, as well as his personal anecdotes about daily life.

However, the host hasn’t been on air lately, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by listeners.

On 2 July, the radio host tweeted: "Hi everybody, after the year we’ve all had I wanted to let you know I’m taking a break for a few weeks.

"Don’t worry, you are in the capable hands of Ian Payne and I’m looking forward to being back on air later this month x".

After speculation he may be leaving the show, Allen added: "It seems to be the fashion at the present to tell you all about our new contracts, so here goes I myself signed a contract a few weeks ago, so if you think I’m disappearing think again.

"I love every minute every hour every day. So here’s to the next few years."
